Adapting for Britain

Manufacturing clogs in the on-site factory, sales continued to grow from strength-to-strength, despite the outbreak of the First World War.

During WW1 William Lamb diversified production to supply quality boots and sturdy gas mask cases for British soldiers. This was alongside production of clogs, which continued to be of high importance for the war effort. The miners were key workers of the day. They produced coal to not only keep people warm, but to keep Britain’s industry, railways and ships moving.
