Innovation and the end of an era

Throughout the 1960s Bill invested in innovation and automation. The introduction of an injection machine resulted in the creation of lighter, more desirable products that could be produced far more efficiently.

By 1967 William Lamb had become one of the very first UK footwear businesses to manufacture what is now simply known as ‘trainers’. Leisurewear was the fashion phenomenon of the 60s, which greatly benefitted team Lamb as they grew two further manufacturing sites to facilitate the growth.

On Bills death in 1966, his wife Ruth Lamb became Chairman and their sons, David and Stuart, became Joint Managing Directors.
